Day 01 YANGON – MYEIK (L)

Transfer to the airport for your morning flight to Myeik. Upon explore Myeik, which is one of the biggest fishing towns in Myanmar and learn more about its incredibly interesting history. Already in the early 17th century the East Indian Trading Company were unloading their ships at the ports of Myeik. Most of the goods would go inland and from there up to Tanintharyi and further on to the old capital of Siam Ayutthaya. “Beik” as the locals call their hometown produces everything for the fishing industry what is needed.
Have you asked yourself where all the seafood comes from? You will visit a soft-shell crab and a lobster farm to see a little bit of the fishing industry. After a stroll through the old colonial quarter visit the Royal Pearl trading shop which has been owned by the same family for over 150 years. You will also have a chance to learn about the pearl industry and how difficult it is to cultivate them. Late afternoon visit the Thein Daw Gyi Pagoda and enjoy a fabulous sunset over the Mergui Archipelago. You will stay overnight at the Eain Daw Phyu Hotel in Myeik.

Day 02 MYEIK (B, L)

After breakfast start your discovery tour of the Mergui Archipelago. The boat leaves from Seik Nge Jetty (Main Jetty) in Myeik. Observe the daily life of the fishermen during a short visit of one of the villages along the way. After about 2 hours cruise along pristine waters you reach an inhabitant beach with snorkeling possibility. Now it is time to relax and kick back. Go for a snorkel in clear waters or just enjoy in the shade on the beach or float in the ocean or just play on the beach. Packed Lunch will be served on the beach together with fresh fruits and cold drinks. Enjoy the beach and forget about the outside world. You will return in the afternoon to Myeik for overnight stay.

Day 3 MYEIK (B, L)

You leave Myeik behind you in the morning mists. If you would like to have a local breakfast along the way, stop at a traditional tea house and enjoy some local dishes. Your first stop will be the local rubber plantation. You will discover how these white sheets are made when the local farmers show you the process. Next, you tour a brick factory (winter only). You will learn here how long it takes to make a brick and how much human manpower is needed. After driving a picturesque mountain road up to Tagu, you will enjoy a traditional lunch. Then take a seat in your boat and cruise down the unspoiled river. Soon, you will stop on a shady sandbank to cool off, relaxing on the clear waters of the Tagu River. You then visit a tiny forest village, populated by local betel nut. Another chance to swim before proceeding to Tanintharyi town. Tanintharyi is an old harbour town about 4 hours up the river from Myeik. You will take the public fast boat to travel this way, just like ships did in the days when Myeik and Tanintharyi were under the rule of Siam. From Tanintharyi, all goods had to be transported by land to the old capital, Ayutthaya in Thailand. After your arrival in Tanintharyi, you will be able to take a look around this ancient town. The old wooden houses on stilts reflect the fame of the town for teak trading. From the viewpoint at the pagoda, you can overlook the whole town. In the afternoon, you are driven back by car. On the way, you will stop every now and then and your local guide will explain how people make a living in the rural countryside, among other things working on betel nut and palm oil plantations. Arrive in Myeik in the early evening. Stay overnight at Eain Daw Phyu Hotel in Myeik.
