8 DAYS / 7 NIGHTS PUTAO  

Putao is surrounded with snow peaked mountains and the weather is cold around the year. Flora and Fauna can be seen in the forest around Putao. There are also many different ethnic minority tribes in Kachin state. It is the nearest town to the base camp for Climbing Mt. Khakhaborazi (5889 metres), which is the highest mountain in Myanmar and in Southeast Asia. Putao is the starting point for Myanmar's most adventurous trekking adventures.

DAY 01 (Tuesday / Friday) MANDALAY PUTAO (L,D)
Transfer to Mandalay International Airport for your flight to Putao (460 meter), a small town surrounded by ranges of snow-capped mountains. Upon arrival transfer to Putao Trekking House for check-in. Lunch at a local restaurant. After lunch walk for approximately 2 hours, through cultivated rice fields, to Majaw Wa, a beautiful Lisu village, whose backdrop is dominated by the snow-covered mountain Simatdin. Dinner at a local restaurant and overnight at Putao Trekking House.
 
DAY 02 (Wednesday / Saturday) PUTAO – SHANGAUNG – WASUNDUM (jeep/trek)(B,L,D)
After breakfast visit the attractive Putao market with its colourful local tribes such as Rawan, Lisu Kachin etc. Later depart by jeep or truck (depending on the group size) to upper Shangaung (16 km, approx 1 hour). This village has inhabitant of both Lisu and Rawan tribes. Your adventure starts as you get off the jeep and start trek to Wasundum village (19 km, approx 6 hours) through Mt. Shangaung at approx 4600 feet (1400 meters) by the shoulder of Mt. Slimatdin 6000 feet (1830 meters). The first day is a good test for this trek, as you have to ascend to 4600 feet (1400 meters) and then descend back to 3000 feet (914 meters) with a distance of 12 miles. Wasundum is a small Rawan village situates by Namlan creek. You will have pack lunch on the way and dinner will be freshly cooked and to be served local style. You will spend the night at Wasundum Guest House with local style central fire place. (foam mattress, blanket and pillow will be provided)
 
DAY 03 (Thursday / Sunday) WASUNDUM - AWADUM - KALANG – ZIYADUM (trek) (B,L,D)
After breakfast leave the village for Ziyadum. Today will be much easier, as the path goes through relatively flat land with just a bit of ups and downs. First cross Namro Creek to Awadum village (6.4 km, approx 2 hours). Awadum village is mainly inhabited by Lisu tribe and separate in to two by a large paddy field. Here we cross a suspension bridge that span Namlang creek to Kalang (Rawan tribe). On a sunny day, you will find blazing Mt. Phonyin Razi just a hand reach away. After a short lunch stop continue to Ziyadum (5.6 km, approx 2 hours) through deeper evergreen forest. Ziyadum, situate at an altitude of 3440 feet (1050 meters) is the most northwestern and last frontier village in the Putao region, mainly inhabited by Rawan tribe. There will be plenty of time to settle down once you arrive Ziyadum. It is recommended to visit Ziya creek for a fantastic sunset view with blazing Snow Mountains in the west which spark in to steady flowing Ziya creek. A pre dinner cocktail will be served over a bonfire on the deck that overview Ziya creek. Overnight will be at Rawan traditional style Ziya lodge. (basic standard facilities such as proper sleeping facility, warm water and western toilet will be provided).
 
DAY 04 (Friday / Monday) ZIYADUM (trek) (B,L,D)
Full day free at your own leisure. You may simply sit by the Ziya river and enjoy the mountain views, listen to the birds call, fishing iced water fish in the river or go day return trip to Chaungzone (8km, approx 3 hour). Chaungzone is beautiful spot with deep evergreen forest with plenty of bird life. We will have an opportunity of social interact with local hunters, medicinal plants and roots seekers etc on the way. You will have packed lunch at Chaungzone camp and afternoon return back to Ziyadum. Dinner and overnight at Ziya Lodge.
 
DAY 05 (Saturday / Tuesday) ZIYADUM - WASANDUM(trek) (B,L,D)
Have another lazy morning as the trek today by all means is not strenuous and relatively short. After an early lunch, bid farewell to the blazing mountains and head back to Wasundum, crossing suspension bridges and trek through beautiful Evergreen Avenue. Dinner and overnight at Wasundum Guest House.
DAY 06 (Sunday / Wednesday) WASUNDUM – SHANGAUNG - PUTAO (trek/jeep) (B,L,D)
Having left the wilderness behind and returning to the clutches of human civilization trek uphill to the plateau of Mount Shangaung, before continuing rapidly downhill to Shangaung village where your jeep is waiting for you. Upon arrival in Putao, transfer to Putao Trekking House for check-in. Rest of the day free at your own leisure. Farewell dinner at a local restaurant and overnight at Putao Trekking House.
 
DAY 07 (Monday / Thursday) PUTAO  - MACHANBAW - MULASHIDI - PUTAO (trek/jeep) (B,L,D)
After breakfast visit the attractive Putao market with its colourful local tribes such as Rawan, Lisu Kachin etc. Further excursion by jeep to Machanbaw (20 km, approx one hour). Machanbaw is a small administrative town ex-Putao with beautifully set up colonial style town. From here cross the 211 meters long suspension bridge, which spans the Malikha River, to Naungkan village and continue by Jeep to Mularshidi (35 km / app. 2 hours). If the weather is clear you will have a fantastic view towards the snow covered mountains. Late afternoon come back to Putao (13 km). Dinner at a local restaurant and overnight at Putao Trekking House.
 
DAY 08 PUTAO MANDALAY (B)
Free at your own leisure till transfer to the airport, for your flight to Yangon (via Myitkyina and Mandalay). Upon arrival transfer to your hotel for check-in.
