YANGON – PUTAO - UPPER SHAN KAUNG – PUTAO – YANGON

DAY 01
YANGON – PUTAO (L,D)
Morning flight to Putao (via Mandalay and Myitkyina).
Upon arrival transfer to the camp ground. Putao (460
meter) is a small town surrounded by ranges of
snow-capped mountains. Discover Putao with its colourful
market and meet different ethnical groups. Lunch at a
local restaurant. Interesting to see is the small museum
about the Hkakabo Razi National Park as well as an
orchid garden. Dinner at local restaurant and overnight
at Khakaborazi Guest House.

DAY
02 PUTAO – UPPER SHAN KAUNG (B,L,D)
After breakfast drive to Lower Shan Kaung village, which
is 8 miles from Putao and takes about 1 hour and 45
minutes, passing Ra Wuan and Lisu tribe villages, such
as Pann Hlaing, Dakoshiza and Mulashidees. The most
interesting thing to see at those villages is the way of
pounding and thrashing paddy grains with the use of
man-made hydropower from the nearby streams. Lunch at
Lower Shan Kaung Village. One can have a look at Myanmar
forest elephants there and take a elephant ride on
demand. Then drive to Upper Shan Kaung Vilage, 4 miles
from Lower Shan Kaung Vilage (appr. 1 hour). Overnight
in local houses at Shan Kaung Village.

DAY 03 UPPER SHAN KAUNG (B,L,D)
Trekking to War San Dam Ra Wuan & Kachin tribes (15
miles form the starting point) at 08:30. The way leads
through dense tropical forest. On the way a small
mountain range has to be crossed with an altitude of
1500 meter. Ascending of this mountain takes about 4
hours. If the weather is clear you will have a fantastic
view towards the snow covered mountains along the Indian
border. In the afternoon come back to Upper Shan Kaung.
Overnight in local houses at Shan Kaung Village.

DAY
04 UPPER SHAN KAUNG -
PUTAO (B,L,D)
After breakfast drive back to Putao (appr. 1 ½ hours)
and continue to Htawada Village (appr. 1 hour) and visit
the Kaung Hmu Lon Pagoda at the bank of Malihka River.
Cross the river by boat and continue on foot to Nam Kham
Village (appr. 1 ½ hours), crossing through Shan &
Rawang Villages. After lunch at Nam Kham Village take a
boat on the Malihka River back to the Kaung Hmu Lom
Pagoda and continue from there by jeep to Putao. Dinner
at a local restaurant and overnight at Khakaborazi Guest
House.

05
PUTAO – YANGON (B)
Free at your own leisure till transfer to the airport,
for your flight to Yangon (via Myitkyina and Mandalay).
Upon arrival transfer to your hotel for check-in.
