5 DAYS / 4 NIGHTS PUTAO

Putao is surrounded with snow peaked mountains and the weather is cold around the year. Flora and Fauna can be seen in the forest around Putao. There are also many different ethnic minority tribes in Kachin state. It is the nearest town to the base camp for Climbing Mt. Khakhaborazi (5889 metres), which is the highest mountain in Myanmar and in Southeast Asia. Putao is the starting point for Myanmar's most adventurous trekking adventures.

DAY 01 MANDALAY PUTAO (every Friday) (L,D)
Transfer to the airport for your morning flight to Putao (via Myitkyina). Putao (460 meter) is a small town surrounded by ranges of snow-capped mountains. Lunch at a local restaurant. After lunch walk for approximately 2 hours, through cultivated rice fields, to Majaw Wa, a beautiful Lisu village, whose backdrop is dominated by the snow-covered mountain Simatdin. Dinner at a local restaurant and overnight at Putao Trekking House.
DAY 02 PUTAO – NAM HTU KOO (B,L,D)
After breakfast start trek to Nam Htu Koo Lisu village situates about 20 km west of Putao. First walk through cultivation field passing some small villages and farm land. After about one hour walking on the flat land you are immediately in to wildness with lush tropical evergreen forests. About 3 hours trek through the terrain up hill you reach approx 2300 feet (700 meters) shoulder of Nam Htu Khoo mountain range from where road descends all the way. Here you see the vest valley filled with cultivation land. Far west you will see blazing 11530 feet (3495 meters) high Lancrumadin Mountain towards Indian border. After lunch (you have pack lunch) continue trek another one more hour through the farm to the village. Upon arrival check in at your designated home and walk to the creek to fresh up. This creek is usually busy during the late afternoon by local on their return home from field thus you shall have a great opportunity for social interaction with locals. Home cook dinner and overnight will be at a designated guesthouse with local style central fire place.
DAY 03 NAM HTU KOO – MULASHIDI – PUTAO (B,L,D)
After breakfast you have enough time to visit around the village for social and cultural interaction. Say good bye to village and walk about 45 minutes through the field along Nam Htu Koo creek crossing the creek a couple of time. Once you get in to the wildness the terrain become deep up which leads up to approx 2295 feet (700 meters). Trek about 2 hours through quite strenuous jungle trail in dense forest filled with bamboo grove. The trek then gradually descend through farm land from where you can enjoy a spectacular view of the Putao plain with snake like crawling Mula creek. About 2 hours easy trek you finally arrive at Mulashidi village. Have lunch and relax by the Mula creek. Later return to Putao by jeep. Farewell dinner at local restaurant and overnight at Putao Trekking House.
DAY 04 PUTAO – MACHANBAW - PUTAO (B,L,D)
After breakfast visit the attractive Putao market with its colourful local tribes such as Rawan, Lisu Kachin etc. Further excursion by jeep to Machanbaw (20 km, approx one hour). Machanbaw is a small administrative town ex-Putao with beautifully set up colonial style town. Arrive at Naungkan village and walk through by a small suspension bridge span across Malikha river to Machanbaw. Excursion in town includes a small market and Malikha river bank. In the afternoon return to Putao. Dinner at a local restaurant and overnight at Putao Trekking House.
DAY 05 PUTAO MANDALAY (B)
Free at your own leisure till transfer to the airport, for your flight to Mandalay (via Myitkyina). Upon arrival transfer to your hotel for check-in.
