Myanmar Extension Tours from October to April

 

Myanmar - travel extension 2 days/ 2 nights Kyaikhtiyo
Walk with thousands of pilgrims up to the Kyaikhtiyo Pagoda, a massive granite boulder, covered with gold leaf, and precariously balanced over the edge of the mountain, it is purported to be held in place, "balanced on hairs of the Buddha". On the way back visit Bago, used to be the ancient capital of the Mon Kings from the 14th through the 16th century and that of the Second Myanmar Empire founded by King Bayinnaung.
Myanmar – travel extension 5 days / 5 nights Mon State & Kayin (Karen) State
Our 5 days extension journey leads you into the south of the country. Here there are islands, mountains, mysterious caves, equatorial forests, field and plantations. Drive to Mawlamyine, an attractive and tropical town with a ride of stupa-capped hills on one side and the sea on the other side. Drive along the Thanlyin river, pass endless rice fields with bizarre single standing rocks, to Hpa-an, the capital of the Kayin State, at the foot of the spectacular Zwekabin mountain. Drive via Thaton, the capital of the old Mon kingdom, to Kyaikhto, walk with thousands of pilgrims up to the Kyaikhtiyo Pagoda and visit Bago, used to be the ancient capital of the Mon Kings from the 14th through the 16th century and that of the Second Myanmar Empire founded by King Bayinnaung.

Based on our 5 days extension tour, but with a river cruise the Thanlwin upriver to Hpa-an, passing endless rice fields with bizarre single standing rocks. Myanmar – travel extension 6 days / 6 nights from Taungoo over the Bago Mountains to Pyay
Travel from Yangon to Bago, the ancient capital of the Mon Kings from the 14th through the 16th century and continue to Taungoo, a typical Burmese town, where you can get a deep insight in everyday’s life. Visit a real Elephant camp in the Bago mountains, stay overnight in a small Karen village and travel to Pyay the ancient capital of Pyu Dynasty Sriksetra, where you can find some of the oldest pagodas in Myanmar.

 
Myanmar – travel extension 7 days / 7 nights Moyingy Wetlands and Bago Mountain
This extension tour is based on our 6 days extension with an extra night at the Moyingy Wetlands & Resort, a paradise for bird watchers. The 100 square kilometers wetlands is host to 75 species of elusive migratory and resident water birds including: Little Cormorant, Grey and Purple Herons, Indian Pond-Heron, Asian Openbill, Black-headed Ibis, Garganey, Lesser Whistling duck, Pied Harrier, Western and Eastern Marsh-Harriers, Purple Swamp hen, Pheasant-tailed and Bronze-winged Jacanas, Oriental Pratincole, Whiskered Tern, Striated Grass bird, Oriental Reed-Warbler, Zitting Cist cola, etc. We might see an Oriental Darter, Spot-billed Pelican, Cinnamon Bittern, Painted Stork, Wooly-necked Stork, Lesser Adjutant, Pallas's Fish-Eagle, Greater Spotted Eagle, Sarus Crane, Watercock, Black-winged Stilt or Asian Golden Weaver. The Resort offers simple, but clean rooms with air-con and attached bathroom.
 
Myanmar - travel extension 5 days / 5 nights Rakhine State
Rakhine, once known as Arakan, lies on the long and narrow western coast of Myanmar, divided by high mountain ranges from the mainland called Rakhine Yoma. This long and narrow state with many islands and unspoilt beaches faces the Bay of Bengal. Fly to Sittwe, the capital of the state and a seaport with a rich hinterland producing crops, fish and Rakhine Longyis. From Sittwe travel by private boat along the Kiccepanadi River to Mrauk Oo, capital of the Rakhine Kingdom, which flourished from the 15th to 18th century, noted for its fort-like temples and pagodas of stone and brick, and for its statuary and relief, which are distinctive. About 8 km north of Mrauk Oo is the archaeological site of Wethali, another ancient capital dating back to the 4th century.
 
Myanmar - travel extension 6 days / 6 nights Rakhine State
This extension tour is based on our 5 days extension Rakhine State with an extra night in Mrauk Oo, capital of the Rakhine Kingdom, which flourished from the 15th to 18th century, noted for its fort-like temples and pagodas of stone and brick, and for its statuary and relief, which are distinctive. About 8 km north of Mrauk Oo is the archaeological site of Wethali, another ancient capital dating back to the 4th century. The extra day will be used to visit the market in Mrauk Oo, to explore the ancient city of Wethali (Vesali), founded by King Dvan Sandra in 327 A.D and additional sightseeing in Mrauk Oo.

 
Myanmar travel extension 5 days/ 4 nights Kyaing Tong
Kyaing Tong, is well known for its scenic beauty and many colorful ethnic tribes. Our local guide will take to the Pin Tauk area and introduce you to the villagers of Khun tribes, Red Palaung tribes and Lahu tribes and to Ho Kyin village with Akha tribes, still wearing traditional costumes with silver coils.
