BAGAN – KYUN CHAUNG – MINDET AYE CAMP - SUMMIT CAMP - MT. VICTORIA - KANPELET - BAGAN

 

 

DAY 01 BAGAN – KYUN CHAUNG – MINDET (L,D)
Early morning transfer to the jetty and take a private boat to Kyun Chaung. Upon arrival drive by landrover to Mindet (appr. 8 hrs drive). The country side is dry and flat and there are many sand streams to cross. At Pauk Township stop for lunch at Shwe Aye Ka Yee Restaurant. After Pauk the country side is getting more and more green and hilly and before you reach the Chin Hills you can also see rice fields vegetable cultivation's. The Amay Ye Yin Nat shrine marks the beginning of the Chin State. Take a coffee break at Kyauk Htu village before the road goes steep up the Chin Hills to Mindet, a former British hill station of the southern Chine State. Dinner and overnight at the VIP Guest House in Mindet.
 
DAY 02 MINDET (B,L,D)
After breakfast walk around the down town including the market area and visit also private houses to see how the people in this are earn their costs of living. You will have also enough time to visit some smaller Chin villages near Mindet. Overnight at the VIP Guest House in Mindet.
 
DAY 03 MINDET – AYE CAMP (B,L,D)
After breakfast start your trekking trip to Mount Victoria. On the way to Aye Camp stop at Khin Nu village to explore the native village life. The natives make their living by growing rice, corn, castor seeds and beans. From here the small foot path goes further down the valley to the Chi stream. As there is plenty of water, stop for lunch and have a rest next to the Chi stream. After lunch the path crosses the Chi stream and goes from then on steep up. First through hot and cultivated fields, then through cool and pleasant pine forests until we reach the Aye Camp. On arrival take a break and visit the nearby Chin village. Shy and cautiously you will be invited to have a cup of rice wine, which will help both parties to warm up. Women in colourful traditional costumes, the older ones have heavily tattooed faces and were smoking tobacco pipes, some of the men still wearing pure golden earrings, inherited by their fathers. Family stories will be exchanged, questions answered, children introduced. Packed with these memories come back to the Aye Camp for dinner and overnight.
 

 
DAY 04 AYE CAMP - SUMMIT CAMP - MT. VICTORIA - KANPELET (B,L,D)
From Aye Camp you have to drive by landrover to the 8th mile junction. From here start steep climbing until you reach the Ranshi junction where one way will lead to Mt. Victoria and the other to Mindet. The way from the Ranshi junction to Summit camp goes through the beautiful alpine rose forests. From Summit Camp it is it is only a 5 minutes walk to the Mt. Victoria peak (3055 metre). Visit the Zi Na Man Aung pagoda on the peak and enjoy the view over the surrounding chin mountain ranges. In the afternoon walk back the same way to the 8th mile junction and drive by car to Kanpelet. The road will lead you down, through pine wood forests, with lots of birds and butterflies. The township is situated 1400 metre above sea level. Dinner and overnight at the Construction Guest House.
 
DAY 05 KANPELET – SEIK PHYU - BAGAN (B,L,D)
It is a long 7 hours drive to Bagan. The steep road goes first down to Saw an interesting town in a green valley. From here the rood goes up and down through deep forest and later on it’s getting more and more dry. On the way stop for lunch at Kan Zun Ma village. From here it takes another 2 hours drive to Seik Phyu from where you can cross the Ayeyarwaddy River over a bridge. Upon arrival transfer to your hotel in Bagan.
