I was born in 1959 in Germany and grew up in Lahr, a small town situated near the French and Swiss borders, at the edge of the Black Forest. Early on in life I’ve been interested in foreign countries and cultures, travelled through many countries for several weeks, sometimes even months.
During my visit in Kandy/Sri Lanka in 1995, I stayed for a few days at the “Burmese Rest”, a little guest house operated by a Burmese monk. Every morning, he told me stories about “Myanmar”, a country somewhere between India and Thailand, an extraordinary country with golden pagodas, beautiful landscapes and graceful people.

Who means, travelling in Myanmar consist of boring visits of thousands golden temples, makes a big mistake. Travelling in Myanmar can be adventure and trill at its best.Who experienced to conquer the pilgrim mountain Mt. Zwekabin on endless steps, who ever climbed up the dangerous bamboo scaffolding of a giant Buddha or searched in the stomach of the biggest reclining Buddha of the world for the right exit, who duped the lurking plainclothes policemen in the train to Gokteik Viaduct for shooting a forbidden photo from the bridge or who throws his shadow with a hot air balloon on the Dhammayangyi Pagoda, catches the desired adrenalin kick for sure.
