BALLOON OVER BAGAN

Explore the former capital of Yangon (Rangon), with its colonial atmosphere and the world famous Shwedagon Pagoda, fly to Inle Lake famous for its unique one-leg rowers and typical floating gardens, drive to Pindaya, a charming village with its paper umbrella cottage industry, fly to Mandalay, the city of the last Myanmar King’s and Bagan, the stunning archeological site of 2000 pagodas. Bagan as you’ve never seen it before! Like a bird would see and wherever the wind takes you! You may see Bagan waking up in the morning. You will see many temples in the distance and get an aerial view of Bagan. It is an amazing experience.

DAY 01 YANGON / arrival day
Upon arrival at Yangon International Airport welcome by our English speaking guide and transfer to your hotel for check-in. In the afternoon drive to Mawtin Jetty and take a rickshaws for a short trip along the Yangon River, have High Tea at the Strand Hotel built in 1896, once described as the "leading hotel of the East" and late in the afternoon, visit the Shwedagon Pagoda described by Somerset Maugham: "The Shwedagon rose superb, glistening with its gold, like a sudden hope in the dark night of the soul of which the mystics write, glistening against the fog and smoke of the thriving city." This massive bell-shaped stupa rises nearly 100 meters above its hill-top surroundings. Wander through this magnificent structure and its courtyards, stupas, bells, Temples, and Buddha images, and see religious and secular visitors from all parts of the globe. Shwedagon has become the symbol of Myanmar. Enjoy the sunset over the Pagoda. Overnight in Yangon.
 
DAY 02 YANGON – HEHO – KAUNG DINE – INLE LAKE (B)
After breakfast visit Chaukhtatkyi Pagoda (a huge reclining Buddha), Karaweik Hall, a Royal floating barge on the Royal Lake for a photo stop and the Dragon glass factory, producing hand-blown glasses. Then transfer to the airport for the late morning flight to Heho in Shan State. Upon arrival drive to Kaung Dine, at the north-western shore of Inle Lake. This Intha village is well known for the production of soybean Cakes and noodles. Wander around and observe these cottage industries. In the afternoon first excursion on Inle Lake and shop at the silk weaving village of In Phaw Khon. Overnight at Inle Lake.
 
DAY 03 INLE LAKE (B)
Full day excursion on Inle Lake (25 km) famous for its unique one-leg rowers, typical floating gardens, local methods of fishing and village life. Visit one of the 5-day rotating markets with its Intha and Pao tribes; Nga Phe Chaug (the biggest and oldest monastery around Inle Lake); a Cheroot Factory and the Phaung Daw Oo Pagoda housing five sacred and almost shapeless Buddha images, contorted because of the quantity of applied gold leaf, gifts from the believers. The Buddha images are purported to have come here in the 12th Century. In the afternoon, proceed to Indein (appr. 1 hour drive) to see the ancient Bagan + Shan style pagodas, built during Bagan Period, passing the beautiful scenery with tall grasses and little water steps. The ruin pagodas, hide in the bushes will give you an impression of you were in the 12th - 13th Centuries ago. Late afternoon come back to your hotel for overnight.
 
DAY 04 INLE LAKE - PINDAYA – HEHO - MANDALAY (B)
Early morning transfer by boat to Nyaung Shwe, a small town at the northern end of Inle Lake and drive from there to Pindaya (appr. 3 ½ hours drive), a charming village with its paper umbrella cottage industry. Visit the Pindaya cave, famous for its thousands of Buddha images and the paper umbrella cottage industry. Then drive to Heho (appr. 2 hours) for the flight to Mandalay, the city of the last Myanmar Kings. Upon arrival transfer to your hotel for check-in and overnight.
 
DAY 05 MANDALAY- MINGUN - MANDALAY (B)
After breakfast drive to Kywezon jetty to watch the busy riverside activity and take a local riverboat to the ancient capital of Mingun (appr. 1 hour per way). Visit the Settawya Pagoda, with a footprint of the Buddha, walk to the huge Mingun Bell, see the nearby unfinished Mingun Pagoda, built to be the world’s biggest pagoda and visit the Hsinbyume Pagoda, a reproduction of the mythological Mt. Meru. Then come back to Mandalay. In the afternoon visit the down town are; the Shwenandaw Monastery, noted for its exquisite wood carvings, Atumashi Monastery, the "Incomparable Monastery", the Kuthodaw Pagoda, known as the world's Biggest Book for its stone slabs of Buddhist scriptures and sunset on Mandalay Hill, a vantage-point for panoramic view of the city. Overnight in Mandalay.
 
DAY 06  MANDALAYAMARAPURAMANDALAY - BAGAN (B)
After breakfast drive to Amarapura the “City of Immortals” and visit the 150 year old Mahagandayon monastery, and famous Buddhist learning center. It is home to a thousand monks, who will form a procession as they go to take their noon and final meal of the day. Amarapura was the capital of upper Burma until 1850. As it was the custom, most of the important wooden palaces and monasteries were taken down and transported to the new capital in Mandalay. You will visit two of the surviving Pagodas, including the Patodawgyi Pagoda built in 1820, which is graced by marble panels on its 3 lower terraces, and affords excellent views of the surrounding area and U Bein wooden bridge, over 150 years old, which is still in use. You can also cross the bridge and visit the Kyauktawgyi Pagoda, a replica of the Ananda Pagoda in Bagan (Pagan), was constructed in 1847 by King Pagan Min. Late afternoon transfer to the airport for the flight to Bagan. Upon arrival transfer to your hotel for check-in and overnight.
 
DAY 07 BAGAN (B)
Start your day with a magnificent flight by a hot air Balloon over Bagan before you explore Bagan, the most extensive archeological site in Asia, with a diverse selection of the most important pagodas and temples, such as Shwezigon Pagoda, built by King Anawrahta in the early 11th century as a religious shrine; Kyansittha Umin: a tunnel with an interesting feature of paintings; Htilominlo Temple, noted for its plaster carvings; Gubyaukgyi, a temple with exquisite murals of Jataka scene and Ananda Temple with four huge standing Buddha images and numerous seated figures and niches around the galleried interior. In the afternoon visit to lacquer ware home industry and continue sightseeing of Bagan: Manuha Temple built in Mon style from 1059; Nanpaya Temple, said to have once been the residence of King Manuha, Gupyaukkyi Temple in Myinkabar and sunset at Shwesandaw Pagoda. Overnight in Bagan.
 
DAY 08  BAGAN - YANGON (B)
After breakfast, continue sightseeing of Bagan with famous monuments including Sulamani Temple, decorated with finest ornaments; Dhamayangyi Temple, the most massive temple; Tatbyinnyu Temple, the highest temple in Bagan; Shwe Gugyi Temple, traditional in style between the early and the late Bagan period; Gawdaw Palin Temple; Mahabodhi Temple, resemble of Mahabodi Temple in Bodaghaya and Bupaya Pagoda on the bank of majestic Ayeyarwady River. Late afternoon transfer to the airport for the flight to Yangon. Upon arrival transfer to your hotel for check-in and overnight.

 
DAY 09 YANGON / departure day
After breakfast continue sightseeing of Yangon: Sule Pagoda , dating back over 2000 years, the Mahabandoola Park with it's Independence Monument and walk around the downtown area and the sprawling Bogyoke Market. Wide streets, orderly town planning and neglected public buildings revive visions of British rule, while busy streets scenes and shimmering pagodas, bursting through a leafy canopy, hint at the rich local culture. Skyscrapers and glaring neon billboards have yet to overtake the capital. In the afternoon transfer to Yangon International Airport.
